Guizhou, a Province Abundant in Coal, Phosphate, Manganese, and Gold
Guizhou has the most abundant coal resources among southern Chinese provinces, producing more than 100 million tons of coal each year. It is thus known as the "Coal Sea of South China". The province has a proven coal reserve of 54.228 billion tons, ranking fifth in the country. It is also rich in coal bed methane, ranking fourth in the country. Its coal reserve accounts for 61% of southwest China's total, exceeding the combined reserves of 12 southern provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities).
Guizhou is an important phosphate rock center of China as well as one of the world's few phosphate-rich areas. In particular, Fuquan City alone has a proven phosphate rock reserve of more than 4 billion tons, accounting for 77.8% of the province's total, for which it has been known as the "Phosphate City of Asia".
Guizhou's aluminum ore and bauxite reserves account for 17.1% of the national total, second only to Shanxi. The junction area of Chongqing and Hunan and Guizhou provinces is known as the "Golden Triangle of China's Manganese Industry". The proven manganese ore reserves of Tongren City, which is located in the "Golden Triangle", have exceeded 700 million tons, ranking first in Asia.
Hailed as the "golden triangle" of non-ferrous metals, the junction area of Yunnan, Guizhou and Guangxi is very rich in mineral resources. With its tin and indium reserves leading the country, the area also has sufficient reserves of aluminum, antimony, manganese, silver, lead and zinc, and is famous for the large concentration of Carlin-type gold deposits. In addition, Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture has been named as the "Gold Prefecture of China" by China Gold Association.
