泰山

中国名山泰山古称岱宗,位于山东省境内,东西长约200千米,南北宽约50千米,主峰玉皇顶海拔1532.7米。泰山山体高大、山势陡峻,蕴藏着奇、险、秀、幽、奥、旷等自然景观特点,被誉为“五岳独尊”。

泰山在中华文明史上占有重要地位,具有丰厚的地理、历史、文化内涵。泰山东望大海,西靠黄河,拥有“云海玉盘”“旭日东升”“晚霞夕照”“黄河金带”等诸多自然奇观。在历史上,泰山因其巍峨挺拔、传说能直通天庭而备受推崇,历代君主在此祭天封禅,祈求国泰民安、江山永固。在文化上,泰山儒、道、佛三教并存,保留寺庙、宫观等建筑群约30处,古遗迹100多处,古代文人墨客如孔子、司马迁、李白、杜甫等都曾登临泰山,留下众多诗文名篇。1987年,泰山列入联合国教科文组织世界文化与自然遗产名录。2006年,泰山被联合国教科文组织评为世界地质公园。

Mount Taishan

Mount Taishan, also known as Daizong in ancient times, is a renowned mountain located in China's Shandong Province. It stretches approximately 200 kilometers from east to west and 50 kilometers from north to south, with its highest peak, Jade Emperor Peak, reaching an altitude of 1,532.7 meters. Mount Taishan is characterized by its towering cliffs, scenic vistas, secluded valleys, and vast expanses, earning it the title of the "Greatest of the Five Sacred Mountains".

Mount Taishan holds a significant place in the history of Chinese civilization and boasts rich geographical, historical, and cultural connotations. Located between the Yellow River to the west and the East China Sea to the east, it features numerous spots where visitors can have a gorgeous view of a sea of clouds, the sunrise, sunset glows, and a golden belt of the Yellow River. Historically, Mount Taishan was revered for its majestic and legendary power to lead straight to heaven, and emperors of successive dynasties performed worship and sacrificial rituals here to pray for prosperity, peace, and stability. Culturally, Mount Taishan enjoyed the coexistence of Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism. There are around 30 temples and palaces and over 100 ancient sites. The mountain was a

favorite destination among ancient scholars and poets, such as Confucius, Sima Qian, Li Bai, and Du Fu, who wrote memorable literary pieces at the top of the mountain. In 1987, Mount Taishan was included on the UNESCO World Heritage List as a cultural and natural site, and in 2006, it was designated as a UNESCO Global Geopark.
