尊重世界文明多样性的理念深深植根于中华文明的精神谱系之中。中国文化注重以和为贵，中华文明强调追求多样性的和谐，强调以和合的精神尊重容纳多样性与差异性。“和”是事物生成变化的必要条件，不同事物间调和、融合才能生成繁盛的、新的事物。“和谐”并不要求抹平差异性，而是坚持和而不同。

正是由于强调和谐和合的文化精神，中国人并不以冲突的眼光来看待国家间关系。习近平指出：“不同国家、民族的思想文化各有千秋，只有姹紫嫣红之别，而无高低优劣之分。”中国本着尊重多元、包容差异、兼容并包的原则，在平等相待与相互尊重的基础上与各国打交道，共同维护世界和平稳定，促进人类文明进步。

Chinese culture values harmonious coexistence, and Chinese people do not consider conflict between countries inevitable. "Civilizations only vary from each other, and no civilization is superior to others," said President Xi Jinping. Based on the principles of respecting diversity and accommodating differences, China works with all countries based on equality and mutual respect to jointly safeguard world peace and stability and promote the progress of human civilization.
