基本实现国防和军队现代化
强国必须强军，军强才能国安。中国特色社会主义进入新时代，以习近平同志为核心的中共中央提出国防和军队现代化新“三步走”战略安排，要求确保2027年实现建军一百年奋斗目标、到2035年基本实现国防和军队现代化、到本世纪中叶把人民军队全面建成世界一流军队，新时代强军事业近、中、远目标梯次衔接的发展蓝图铺展开来。中共二十大报告对实现建军一百年奋斗目标、开创国防和军队现代化新局面作出了重要部署。
国防和军队现代化是中国式现代化的重要组成部分。坚持和发展中国特色社会主义，实现中华民族伟大复兴，必须统筹发展和安全、富国和强军，确保国防和军队现代化进程同国家现代化进程相适应，军事能力同国家战略需求相适应。建设同国际地位相称、同国家安全和发展利益相适应的巩固国防和强大军队，是中国社会主义现代化建设的战略任务，是坚持走和平发展道路的安全保障，是总结历史经验的必然选择。
Basically modernizing national defense and the armed forces
A strong country must have strong armed forces, and only strong armed forces can keep the country safe. In the current new era, the CPC Central Committee with Xi Jinping at the core has designed a new three-step plan for China's defense and military modernization. This includes attaining the centenary goal of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) in 2027, basically modernizing national defense and the armed forces by 2035, and elevating the people's armed forces to world-class standards by the mid-21st century. The report to the 20th CPC National Congress made specific arrangements for achieving the centenary goal of the PLA and further modernizing national defense and the military.
Modernization of national defense and the armed forces is an important part of Chinese modernization. In developing socialism with Chinese characteristics and achieving national rejuvenation, China must ensure development and security and coordinate its efforts to build a strong country and a strong military, so as to see that progress in modernizing national defense and the armed forces functions in parallel with that of national modernization and that military capacity is aligned with strategic needs. To build a strong defense and strong military that befit China's international status and serve its national security and development interests is a strategic requirement of China's socialist modernization drive, a guarantee for peaceful development, and an obvious choice driven by historical experience.
