尊重世界文明多样性
文明多样性是世界的基本特征，也是人类进步的源泉。当今世界，不同历史和国情，不同民族和习俗，孕育了不同文明。正是这种多样性，促进不同文明在交流中融合、在互鉴中进步。尊重世界文明多样性，是落实全球文明倡议、推动人类文明进步的重要前提。
尊重世界文明多样性的理念深深植根于中华文明的精神谱系之中。中国古代思想家孟子说“夫物之不齐，物之情也”，《论语》讲“君子和而不同，小人同而不和”。中国文化注重以和为贵，中华文明强调追求多样性的和谐，强调以和合的精神尊重容纳多样性与差异性。
文明没有高下、优劣之分，只有特色、地域之别。文明差异不应该成为世界冲突的根源，而应该成为人类文明进步的动力。中国将“尊重文明多样性”写入《中华人民共和国对外关系法》，主张理性处理本国文明与其他文明的差异，坚持求同存异、取长补短，不攻击、不贬损其他文明，积极推动不同文明相互尊重、和谐共处。
Respecting the diversity of civilizations
Diversity of human civilizations not only defines our world, but also drives human progress. Different histories, national conditions, ethnic groups, and customs give birth to different civilizations. This diversity has encouraged civilizations to integrate through exchanges and advance based on mutual learning. Respecting the diversity of civilizations is the precondition for implementing the GCI and promoting human progress.
Respecting the diversity of civilizations has long been cherished in the Chinese civilization. Many records of this can be found in ancient Chinese classics, with observations such as "Things are born to be different" in Meng Zi (The Book of Mencius) and "A man of honor seeks harmony, but not uniformity; a petty-minded man seeks uniformity, but not true harmony" in Lun Yu (The Analects of Confucius). The Chinese culture emphasizes valuing harmony, and the Chinese civilization stresses pursuing harmony amid diversity and respecting and accommodating diversity and differences to achieve harmonious coexistence.
Civilizations are not superior or inferior to one another; they only differ in their characteristics and regional contexts. The diversity of civilizations should not be a source of global conflict; rather, it should be a driver for progress.
China has included respecting the diversity of civilizations into its Law on Foreign Relations and advocates a rational examination of the differences between its own civilization and other civilizations. It favors seeking common ground while reserving differences, drawing on each other's strengths instead of attacking or disparaging other civilizations, and promoting mutual respect and harmonious coexistence of diverse civilizations.
