天下大同的传统智慧
中华文明源远流长，在历史长河中形成了具有中华民族特色的价值观、世界观。中华民族历来讲求“天下一家”，主张民胞物与、协和万邦、天下大同，憧憬“大道之行，天下为公”的美好世界。这些优秀传统文化体现了中国人的价值追求，蕴含着中华民族讲仁爱、重民本、守诚信、崇正义、尚和合、求大同等思想理念，丰富了人类精神文明的宝库，即使在今天也具有重要的思想价值。作为中华优秀传统文化的继承者，中国共产党秉持这一价值追求，将“为世界谋大同”作为一项重要使命。
“大同”，并不是要消除一切差异，而是在尊重差异中求沟通、求和谐。在中国古代思想家看来，世界可以作为和谐共生的整体，正所谓“万物并育而不相害，道并行而不相悖”，这体现着中华文明的包容精神与和合态度，“和而不同”“协和万邦”“以和为贵”，影响着中国人的处事准则和行为方式。
不同国家的文化中也蕴含命运与共、世界一体的价值理念。西班牙语中有“我们一家”（“Todos somos uno”）的谚语，印度《奥义书》中也有“天下一家”（“Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”）的观念。这些文化观念在深层意义上与“天下大同”的传统中国智慧具有相通性。
China's traditional pursuit of universal harmony
The Chinese civilization has a long and profound history, during which the Chinese nation has developed values and a worldview with distinct Chinese characteristics.
The Chinese nation has always advocated the idea of "the world as one family", embracing concepts such as "All people are brothers, and all things are companions", "harmony among all nations", and "universal harmony under heaven", while envisioning a beautiful world that is "shared by all when the great way prevails".
These fine traditional cultural elements embody the value pursuit of the Chinese people, containing such philosophical ideas as emphasizing benevolence, prioritizing the people, upholding integrity, advocating justice, valuing harmony, and striving for universal peace. They have enriched the treasure trove of human civilizations and still hold significant value today.
As the inheritor of China's fine traditional culture, the CPC upholds this value pursuit and takes "promoting world harmony" as an important part of its mission.
The pursuit of "universal harmony" does not mean disregarding differences; it means communicating while respecting differences. The ancient Chinese thinkers held that the world should be an integrated whole with harmonious coexistence of all things. They believed that "All living things may grow side by side without harming one another, and different roads may run in parallel without interfering with one another." Old inclusive maxims and popular sayings such as "harmony without uniformity", "coexistence of all nations in harmony", and "Harmony is invaluable" have for centuries influenced the social norms and conduct of the Chinese people.
Similar values can be found in the cultures of other countries. For instance, the Spanish have a proverb "Todos somos uno" (We are family), and the Indians have the saying "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" (All are one family). These cultural concepts are, in a profound sense, congruent with the traditional Chinese wisdom of "universal harmony under heaven".
